The Pilot Decision: Military or Civilian I was recently interviewed by FAPA.aero regarding my decision to join the military, why I chose to pursue that path, and what I would recommend to other people interested in becoming a pilot in the military. Like many people, I was introduced to the military by a family member who was currently serving, and for me, that person was my dad. He was an active duty B-52 pilot who served 22 years before retiring and was my inspiration for joining the military and wanting to become a pilot. I believe the biggest hurdle to people who are interested in joining the military is the fact that they don't know anything about it.
